Dental Implants in San Francisco
Replace a missing tooth with a permanent, natural-looking restoration — done the right way.
A Permanent Solution
Looking for dental implants near downtown San Francisco? An implant replaces a missing tooth from root to crown — the closest thing modern dentistry offers to a natural tooth. We offer simply the:
- check
Durability
A permanent restoration built to last for decades with routine care — no replacing every ten years like bridges or dentures.
- check
Natural Look
Crowns are hand-crafted by a talented local Ceramist to match the color, shape, and feel of your surrounding teeth.
- check
Full Function
Bite and chew with the same confidence as a natural tooth — not the ~25% capacity dentures provide.
What Is a Dental Implant?
A dental implant replaces a single missing tooth — or several — with a restoration made of three parts:
- The screw is placed in the jawbone and acts as an artificial tooth root. It fuses with the bone to form a stable foundation.
- The abutment is a small connector that securely links the crown to the screw.
- The crown is the visible tooth, custom-made to match your natural smile.
Unlike a bridge, an implant doesn't require removing healthy structure from neighboring teeth — it stands on its own and helps preserve the surrounding bone.
Dental implants and crowns, done the right way.
We Quarterback Your Care
You’re missing one or more teeth and ready for a change. The thought of spending one more day worrying about how it looks when you smile — one more day of chewing problems with a bridge or partial denture — it’s just too much. You miss the look and feel of your natural tooth, and want to get back to the point where you only thought about your teeth while you were brushing them.
Dental implants can get you there. They’re strong, comfortable, and look just like your natural teeth. As your Cosmetic Dentist, my office acts as the quarterback for a team of specialists, each at the top of their field:
- A Talented Ceramist crafts beautiful, natural-looking crowns from his lab in Southern California.
- A skilled Periodontist or Oral Surgeon performs the surgery to place the implant screw, matched to your specific needs.
- A Cosmetic Dentist (me!) evaluates your needs, builds the treatment plan, places the crown, and coordinates the whole process for you.

Your Dental Implant Journey
Modern implants have been a trusted option for more than 30 years. Over 3 million people in the U.S. have them, and that number grows by roughly 500,000 a year.
Strong candidates are in good overall health and have healthy bone structure to support the screw. Implants work whether you're missing a single tooth, several teeth in a row (an implant bridge), or a full arch (all-on-4).
We start with a consultation at our Union Square office, assessing your oral health to confirm implants are the right fit and walking you through every option, cost, and consideration so you can decide with confidence.
We refer you to our preferred San Francisco Periodontist or Oral Surgeon, matched to your needs. They surgically place the implant screw, and we provide a temporary tooth for aesthetics while you heal.
Roughly four to eight months later, once you've healed, we take impressions and our talented local Ceramist fabricates your crown. At your final visit we place it and make sure it's both functional and beautiful.
Dental Implant Frequently Asked Questions
Most people in good oral and overall health are candidates. The key factors are adequate bone density and a commitment to good oral hygiene. The clearest answer comes from a consultation, where we evaluate your specific situation and give you tailored guidance.
Placement is a surgical procedure performed by our partner Oral Surgeons and Periodontists under local anesthesia, so you won't feel pain during it. Sedation options are available if you have anxiety. Most patients report only mild discomfort afterward, easily managed with over-the-counter medication.
It spans several months across a few stages: consultation, placement surgery, a healing period while the implant integrates with the bone, and finally crown placement. On average four to eight months, longer if additional treatment is needed. We'll map out your exact timeline at the consultation.
Yes. With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, implants are designed to last a lifetime. Their longevity depends on care, overall health, and lifestyle — so routine maintenance matters.
Absolutely. Implant-supported bridges and dentures provide a stable, natural-looking way to replace several teeth in a row or throughout the mouth. We customize the plan to your needs and goals.
